Anita L. Schill is a scientist, registered nurse, former competitive ballroom dancer and Baby Boomer who found her way to yoga during a period of self-healing from a series of major life transitions. Her spiritual journey began in 1989 when she awoke to find herself in a life that was not hers. She had become so disconnected from her truth that she was adrift; buffeted by the winds of societal expectations. Yoga became her path of salvation. Since then, her passion has been to serve as a guide for others who may be longing to reconnect with their true nature and break free of self-imposed limitations.
Anita teaches heart-oriented, alignment-based yoga classes designed to open the body, mind, and heart, making them much more than an exercise class. She is sensitive to the needs of students concerned about safety, injury prevention and recovery, and those who are interested in developing flexibility, strength and ability. Her classes weave yoga postures (asanas) with yoga philosophy and themes that apply to modern living. The result is powerful yoga that creates space for radical reflection and exceptional expansion on the mat for more connected and joyful living off the mat.
Anita has been practicing yoga since 1999. She was initially inspired by Anusara® Yoga and has studied with Suzie Hurley, Maria Hamburger, Kate Miller, Moses Brown, Lucy Lomax, Todd Norian, and Betsey Downing. Anita graduated from the 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training Program at Willow Street Yoga Center in 2011. She completed Jenny Otto's Body Balance Yoga® 500-hour Advanced Teacher Training Program in Yoga Therapy in 2014 and the 800-hour Yoga Therapy Certification Program in 2016. She is currently enrolled in Todd Norian's Ashaya Yoga® 300-hour Advanced Teacher Training Program. She is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) 500 with Yoga Alliance, a Certified Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist through the Himalayan Institute, and a Licensed Ashaya Yoga® Teacher.
