Anita L. Schill, PhD, RYT 500 is a scientist, registered nurse, former competitive ballroom dancer and Baby Boomer who found her way to yoga during a period of self-healing from a series of major life transitions.  It didn't take her long to discover the self-transformational power of yoga practice.  Yoga rekindled her spirit and fulfilled her desire for deeper connection and meaning in life.  Since then, her passion has been to serve as a guide for others who may be longing to reconnect with their true nature and break free of self-imposed limitations.  She warmly welcomes all fellow travelers to her yoga classes where she teaches a heart-oriented, alignment-based yoga -- often referred to as yoga from the inside out.

 

 

Scientifically-Minded Students

 

As a scientist and registered nurse, Anita recognizes the benefits of a scientific approach to yoga.  Alignment-based yoga focuses on the structure and function of the human body.  This approach helps with injury prevention and recovery and helps students progress in strength and ability.  Yoga based on sound alignment principles is both life-affirming and therapeutic.  Plus, for those who are scientifically-minded, yoga practice offers a path for creative expression that temporarily frees the mind from the rigors of scientific pursuit.





 

Dancers and Athletes

 

Anita is also a former modern and competitive ballroom dancer who used yoga for the physical benefits of flexibility and strength development.  She appreciates the demands dancers place on their bodies and the desire dancers have to both push the body to its limits and simultaneously remain injury-free.  Her classes offer dancers and other athletes an opportunity for supplemental training.

 







Baby Boomers

 

As a card-carrying member of the Baby Boom generation, Anita understands the needs of bodies as they begin to change.  She realizes that more warm-up time may be needed, modifications of yoga poses are helpful options during class, safety and injury prevention are important concerns, and personalized attention is almost always welcome.
